Q: What is the correct way to say Bill's last name? I've heard it
pronounced like "Deezy" and also like "Dee-See."
A: It is pronounced Deasy with an "s" sound, like in the word
"east" (or as you put it, "Dee-See.") We know it's tempting to
say it like the word "easy" with a D in front
of it (like
"Dee-Zee"), but that is incorrect!
Q: I am curious what
new CDs Bill is listening to. A: I'm
totally into the latest Josh Ritter CD, "The Animal Years" and suspect that
the song "Thin Blue Flame" may hold all the secrets of the universe. I'm
also really enjoying Paul Simon's latest. (Updated 6/8/06)
Q: When will Bill come to my town to play?
A: "Have guitar, will travel!" Bill actually has been making his way across the
countryand hopes to cover more ground with the release of the new record. So in
other words, we hope so! But If you live in an area where Bill hasn't played
and is at least 200 miles from Pittsburgh, PA, you might want to consider
hosting a House Concert. If you want more information you can contact us
here. |

Q:I
signed up for the mailing list and haven't received anything! Do I need to
sign up again? A: The first thing you should do is check your mail controls and spam
folder. You can also try putting the newsletter
address in your address book.
If this doesn't seem to solve the problem, please send us an email and we'll look into it. If your email address has changed, no problem. Just sign
up again!
Q: How long has Bill been
playing guitar? A: Bill says, "At the ripe old age of 10, I was inspired by the music of Elvis
Presley to beg my parents for my first guitar." You can learn more about
Bill's inspiration on the Bill Deasy "Live at Club Cafe" DVD and if you have a
question you can ask him in the "I Want To Know" section of the message
board.
Q: What's the deal with the "Good Things Are Happening" song? I haven't seen it on
Good Morning America for a long time. Where can I get a copy of it? A: We took some of the questions we've gotten on this topic and put them together.
The deal for "Good Things Are Happening" commenced in August of 2001 and was
only supposed to be on the aiir for only 10 weeks. Because ABC continued to get
so many inquiries and great feedback like yours, the deal continued to be
extended. But like they say, all "Good Things" (pun intended!) come to an end
and it did -- at the end of December '04. Unfortunately the song is not
available for purchase but you can hear it in an ecard and also listen to it on the
Good Things Are Happening page.
Q: Is the Gathering Field still
together? A: No, the Gathering Field is no longer together. You can read more here.
Q: I am trying to find some of the old Gathering Field CDs but can't find them
anywhere! Can you help me? A:
Most of the old Gathering Field CDs are out of print but they are now available
via digital delivery! Check iTunes, Rhapsody and other digital download
services. You can check a recent discography update here.
Q: When a CD is sold used, does Bill get paid? I saw a CD for sale that says it
has a hole in it -- does that mean something?
A: We've gotten several questions about the topic of used CDs and rephrased them in
the form of these two questions to answer them here Whenever you buy a used
CD, no one gets paid except the seller of the CD. When the CD was initially
sold, the appropriate parties received royalties at that time. But If a CD is
being sold with a hole or line through the barcode it means it was NEVER
purchased -- so no one was ever paid. These are promotional CDs that are not
intended for sale since they were obtained only at the artists' and record
companies' expense.
Q: Does Bill allow recording at live shows?
A: We do NOT allow any recording at live shows unless otherwise
specified or prior permission is granted. Bill often performs
"works-in-progress" in front of live audiences before they're ready to be
committed to recording and we'd hate for that to change. We respectfully ask
that you respect our live taping policy.
